Jannabi's leader and vocalist.

He grew his hair and has long hair now. His mom isn't a fan of his hairstyle but most fans think it's the best hairstyle he had to date. 

Said he had his dark circles since he was a child and its caused by rhinitis.

Was an FNC trainee at one point and was about to debut with N.Flying when Dohyung told him to form a band together so he left the company and started the band Jannabi with Dohyung.


He has a unique husky voice, he refers to his singing style as 'untrained' he doesn't use proper vocalizing methods and ways of singing but he's actually favored for that.

Writes all Jannabi lyrics alone. At the start of their debut he used to write it with Dohyung and ex-member but not any more. He said there are many reasons for that but most importantly he believes it makes sense for a singer to sing his own words.


Participates in everything from composing, lyrics writing, arrangement, concert planning, distribution, outfit production, the multi-talented frontman that can do it all. Choi Junghoon personally drew the poster for Jannabi's 10th Solo Concert, they even used the character he drew for their official concert goods.

Makes a lot of typos on instagram but fans think thats cute. 


Activities

  • Made it to TOP7 on Superstar K5 as a member of Plan B
  • Participated in ice bucket challenge in 7th of June, 2018 after being tagged by AOA's Jimin and Lovelyz' Jisoo 
  • Went on the 92nd round of King of Maked Singer as 'Gingerman' and was the runner-up.  He had a severe cold at the time but showcased his outstanding singing skills by singing Hee-ya and received really positive comments.
  • Appeared on KBS2 [In Sync] from March 5 to March 26, 2019.
  • On April 12, 2019, she appeared on MBC I Live Alone 289th episode <Rainbow Live>.
  • Was interviewed on SBS nightline news on May 3, 2019 with Kim Do-hyung.
  • Appeared again on MBC I Live Alone episode 292 On May 10, 2019.
  • June 28 - July 5, 2019 / MBC I Live Alone Episodes 300 - 301 6th Anniversary Celebration. He took part in the athletic competition special but was edited out.

Trivia 

  • Decided to become a singer-songwriter after listening to Lion King's soundtrack by Elton John "Can you feel the love tonight" in 6th grade.

  • He has really big eyes but he says if he opens them entirely he looks like he wants to start a fight so he makes it seem like he has droopy eyes. 

  • When he plays the guitar he uses a Gibson SJ-200 and Martin D-28. He seems to play them Martin in spring and summer and Gibson in fall and winter, and has been carrying a classical guitar for solo activities since the release of his 3rd album.

  • While playing soccer in Middle School his knee was severely injured so he was exempt of military service. Said he has no plans of going solo while the members complete their service.

  • Previously, he had played electric guitars such as PRS and Fender Telecaster in live performances, but at some point he switched to using acoustic guitars only.

  • Was student president in High School. On December 30, 2019, he was invited to the school recital.

  • He originally switched to a 2G phone from a smartphone, saying it distracted him from working. But recently he realized it's necessary to have a smartphone to be able to work on music so he uses it for work purposes only.

  • His brother runs their label, Peponi music, all by himself.

  • He cries a lot. He feels choked up a lot in the middle of concerts but whenever that happens he smiles to try and hold it in, but most times he fails to do so and ends up actually crying. He especially cries during November Rain and Winter is Coming. It's a song that was written when Jannabi was going through really tough times so he keeps singing of those times when he sings. He also cries a lot during Summer but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore. He also sometimes cries on vlive when he's thankful. Dreams, Books, Power, and Walls also makes him cry especially the lyrics "It will all be okay after you wake up", he says because he found out thats false and it doesn't all become alright. 

  • He has 3 cousins who majored in vocal music. One of his cousins is a famous classical musician. 

  • His talent is imitating the sound of a crow

  • Some of his nicknames are captain, choi chief, choi leader, jungchoon. Jungchoon was given to him when he was in school, his brother's uniform was handed down to him and while changing the name tag from Jung-joon to Jung-hoon but due to poor sewing skills the teacher read it as Jungchoon instead and it stuck with him since. 

  • His parents told him "if you want to do music study well first" so he studied really hard and was accepted into Kyunhee University's Business Administration in one try. His best result was 8th in the whole school.

  • Has a maltese dog called Nana, its full name is Ba-Nana.

  • When he was young he resembled Ahn Jung-hwan, Joo Ji-hoon, and Son Ho-jun.

clarification of Jannabi's Choi Junghoon's rumors

1. SBS News reporting on a famous band vocalists dad who received the help of Kim Hak Eui and embezzled money. They mentioned that his two sons were involved in the business and even put a picture of their studio. Junghoon's clarification: "Hello, it's Jannabi's Choi Junghoon.
